DeStijl fusionne la Dark Dance avec le pop-rock mélodique.
Formé en France en 1995 par Pascal DeStijl et John Cleary, le groupe sort son premier album primé « DeStijl » en 1997.
Ce succès est suivi de près par l’EP expérimental « Trip factor » en 1998 et l’album crowd-pleasing « de: construction « en 1999, avec le chant d’un autre monde de la Norvegienne Agnete Thuland.
En 2000, Pascal DeStijl a pris le temps de lancer son label underground, Hydrophonics.
En 2009, inspiré, Pascal élargit le son DeStijl en engageant Fred Vernay et Patrice Robert au chant et à la guitare respectivement (tous deux d’Effet Papillon), Chris Castejon à la basse et Laurent Guillot à la batterie.
Éclatant avec une dystopie du 21ème siècle, rayonnant des mélodies sombres et tonnant de sang neuf, DeStijl a sorti un nouvel album en 2011, ironiquement intitulé « The White Stripes« . Sur cet album, le groupe a donné le ton: une atmosphère sombre mêlant post-punk et dance-rock.
Concept original, l’album était disponible en trois versions, dont des réinterprétations acoustiques des 11 chansons et 12 remixes calibrés en dancefloor. Fin 2012, le groupe se rend à Manchester pour enregistrer son album de suivi avec « Chameleons Vox » et le guitariste « I am Kloot » Yves Altana. Comme « The White Stripes » n’a jamais été jouée sur scène avant son enregistrement, cet album est composé de morceaux préalablement rodés sur scène avec un nouveau line-up, dont Eric Manchon à la batterie.
DeStijl a invité Joy Division et l’ancien bassiste New Order Peter Hook à jouer de la basse (1ère collaboration avec un groupe français) et l’ancienne chanteuse de Happy Mondays, Julie Gordon, pour interpréter des chœurs.
Avec ce nouvel album intitulé «Something Wicked this Way Comes» DeStijl a bougé pour franchir une nouvelle étape dans leur carrière. Ils sont revenus à Manchester durant l’hiver 2015-16 pour enregistrer le dernier album à ce jour, intitulé «débuts» comme une nouvelle blague. Ce nouvel album comprend 12 chansons, plus de synthés et plus de beats de danse, mais c’est en fait le plus « rock » qu’ils aient fait.
Encore une fois, ils ont invité des gens très talentueux de manchester à jouer de la basse et des choeurs, et étonnamment, une section de cuivres. L’enregistrement de cet album devrait sortir sous la forme d’un documentaire de 52mn réalisé et édité par Greg Auz.

This success was closely followed by the experimental “Trip factor” EP in 1998, and the crowd-pleasing album “de:construction” in 1999, featuring the otherworldly vocals of Norweigian Agnete Thuland.
In 2000, Pascal DeStijl took time out from making music to launch his underground label, Hydrophonics.
In 2009, burning with inspiration, Pascal expanded the DeStijl sound by engaging Fred Vernay and Patrice Robert on vocals and guitar respectively (both ex Effet Papillon), Chris Castejon on bass and Laurent Guillot on drums.
Bursting with 21st century dystopia, radiating dark melodies and thundering with new blood, DeStijl released a new album in 2011, ironically titled “The White Stripes”.
On this album, the band set its tone : a dark atmosphere melting post-punk and dance-rock. Original concept, the album was available in three versions, including acoustic reinterpretations of the 11 songs and 12 dancefloor-calibrated remixes.
In late 2012, the band went to Manchester to record their follow-up album with “Chameleons Vox” and “I am Kloot” guitarist Yves Altana producing it. As « The White Stripes » was never performed on stage before its recording, this album consists of songs previously honed on stage with a new line-up, including Eric Manchon on drums.
DeStijl invited Joy Division and New Order former bass player Peter Hook to play the bass (1st collaboration ever with a french band) and former Happy Mondays singer Julie Gordon to perform backing vocals. With this new album titled « Something Wicked this Way Comes » DeStijl moved to climb a new step in their carreer.
They returned in Manchester during winter 2015-16 to record the last album to date, titled « debut » as a new joke. This new album includes 12 songs, more synths and more dance beats, but is in fact the most rock moods of theirs. Again, they invited very talented people from manchester to perform bass and backing vocals, and surprisingly, a brass section. The recording of that album is set to be released as a 52mn documentary directed and edited by Greg Auz.
